Academic Advising

Your advisor is a primary “go-to” person who can help you navigate through the university.

  • They assist you in making decisions about specific courses that are needed for your degree.
  • They offer guidance about your academic goals
  • They monitor your performance and progress through your time at the university and can help you work through struggles or challenges you are facing
  • They are available to answer questions you may have and will provide a referral to the appropriate department or resource so you can get additional support

Peer - Mentoring Program

  • Supporting first-year, first-generation students by pairing them with experienced upperclassman.
  • Pairings are based on gender, major, values, and interests.
  • Having a peer mentor will help you navigate through your college experience to reach your personal and educational goals.
  • Mentoring is a proven means to success and our program is open to all first-year, first-generation students

Tutoring Services

Davenport University offers free tutoring services to students taking DU courses. Tutoring is now completely online through Tutor.com. You can access it ONLY through your Blackboard class. 

  • Available 24/7
  • Drop-in for immediate tutoring
  • Offers many more subjects
  • For undergraduate and graduate class levels
  • Offers a drop-off paper review service
  • Offers whiteboard (can add graphing) and calculators for math tutoring
  • Offers a code editor for coding tutoring
  • Contains practice quizzes and videos
  • Has Spanish-speaking tutors for Math, Science, History, Writing and Study/Life Skills

  • Links and videos that show step by step how to write a paper in the correct format. Note that Davenport uses APA 7th edition writing style. 

  • Learning success skills links to help students with different kinds of studying methods for all subjects.
