Annually, the third week in January kicks off the celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy with a week of activities organized by the Multicultural Academic Student Services. Most events are free and open to the public.
MLK Regional Celebration - Saginaw Valley State University has partnered with regional businesses, chambers of commerce and community foundations to work together to present a celebration of the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. This seventh annual event will be held virtually and will feature keynote speaker Van Jones, Political Contributor, CNN.
MLK Day of Service Drive Thru Food Distribution - Join us for our 3rd Annual Day of Service Food Packaging & Distribution Day in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Volunteers are needed for a variety of jobs to distribute 500 boxes and bags of food (two semi-trucks) for community members who are in need. This event is in partnership with the Midland Mall, Corteva Agriscience, The Arc of the United States, the Great Lakes Loons, the Michigan Baseball Foundation, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, and Hidden Harvest.
