Formed in January 2003 when a group of eleven paralegals met in Phoenix, Arizona to form a national organization that could meet the needs of paralegals who may or may not be affiliated with another paralegal organization.

Offering Paralegal Memberships

Founded in 1984 as the Legal Assistant Management Association (LAMA) and recently known as the International Paralegal Management Association (IPMA), provides information and education on the management of paralegals and other practice support professionals.

Established in 1929 as the National Association of Legal Secretaries in 1949, and renamed NALS…the association for legal professionals in 1999. NALS offers educational programs and services to meet the needs of the paralegal/legal assistant and the legal secretary as well as other legal support positions.

Founded in 1974, NFPA was the first national paralegal association. Created as a non-profit federation, NFPA is an issues-driven, policy-oriented professional association directed by its membership. It is comprised of more than 50 member associations and represents over 9,000 individual members reflecting a broad range of experience, education and diversity.

NALA began in 1975 as the National Association for Legal Assistants, providing continuing education and professional development designed specifically to advance paralegals and other legal professionals in their careers.
