Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is celebrated each June in commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. Pride Month recognizes the impact that the LGBTQ community has had and continues to have on our society. Celebrations and events typically include parades, picnics, parties, workshops, conferences and more, which attract millions of participants around the world. Memorials are also held for those who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS.
