Course Learning Outcomes

Why are Learning Objectives important?

By establishing well-defined and articulated learning objectives, learners are provided a clear purpose on what they should be learning in order to focus their learning efforts.

What is a Course Learning Outcome?

Learning outcomes are statements that describe essential learning students will accomplish at the end of a period of time. They are measurable and students can reliably demonstrate the knowledge obtained at the end of the course or program.

At DU, course level outcomes are developed by the College, and approved through a process involving the college and the University Curriculum Committee (UCC). Course outcomes will be provided to you when you begin the course development process.

How are Course Learning Outcomes different and similar from Weekly Learning Objectives?
