Multiplying and Dividing Positive and Negative Whole Numbers

What does it mean?

Definitions:

Multiplication - A mathematical operation that indicates how many times a number is added to itself. It is signified by the multiplication signs (x) or (*).

Division - A mathematical operation that indicates how many equal quantities add up to a specific number. It is signified by the division signs (÷) or (/).

 What does it look like?

A general example to help you recognize patterns and spot the information you're looking for

Multiplication $$2 * 4 = 8$$ $$10 * 10 = 100$$ Division $$9 / 3 = 3$$ $$24 / 3 = 8$$
