What your Liaison Librarian Can Do For You

University Outreach

  • Promote library services and programs.
  • Participate in meetings and campus events as appropriate.

Program, Department & College Outreach

  • Inform the College of all new and currently available library resources and services pertaining to the subject area, program, or department.
  • Introduce possible database purchases and request trials if there is interest from the faculty.
  • Develop partnerships between the library and programs, departments, and colleges in such areas as teaching and learning, research, digital projects, and scholarly communication.
  • Attend departmental meetings as appropriate.

Classroom &  Student Collaborations

  • Meet with instructors to discuss their information needs and help them find the right resources for their class.
  • Build Library Guides and other learning objects with instructors, specifically for their subject or course.
  • Help find e-textbooks for the class from the current library resources, e-books the library can purchase, or OER (Open Educational Resources) already available
  • Provide class Library instruction sessions on the best library resources (and how to use them) for student assignments and subject areas covered
  • Meet with students to discuss their information needs and help them find the right resources for their assignment and answer any library-related questions they may have.
